Hospital Bag Checklist
A scannable, printable packing list for you, your baby, and your support person, plus the paperwork you don’t want to be hunting for on your way out the door. Check items off as you pack, and finish the car seat step well before your due date.
For Mom
- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes for your stay
- A going-home outfit sized for right after delivery, not pre-pregnancy
- Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, lip balm
- Nursing bra and nursing pads, if you're planning to breastfeed
- Phone charger with a long cord
- Snacks and a refillable water bottle
- Flip-flops or slides for the shower
For Baby
- A going-home outfit appropriate for the season
- A swaddle blanket or wearable blanket
- A rear-facing infant car seat, installed and checked before your due date
- A few extra onesies in case your stay runs longer than expected
For Your Partner or Support Person
- A change of clothes and basic toiletries
- Phone charger
- Snacks and something to pass the time during a long wait
- A pillow or blanket for sleeping in the room
Paperwork & Extras
- Photo ID and insurance card
- Hospital pre-registration paperwork, if you completed it in advance
- A copy of your birth plan, if you have one
- Contact information for your pediatrician
- A list of emergency contacts
