Editorial & Review Policy
How we approach research, writing, and recommendations at SafeBabyGear, and what our review process is intended to deliver.
Our Approach to Research
Every guide starts with the current, publicly available guidance on a topic, along with relevant consumer safety standards and manufacturer specifications. We aim to write information that is accurate, current, and easy to act on, and to say plainly when a topic doesn’t have a simple answer.
How We Choose What to Recommend
For gear reviews, we compare products on the criteria that matter most: safety certifications, published specifications, price, and how well a product does what it claims to do.
We base these comparisons on official manufacturer documentation and specifications, current U.S. market and retailer availability, authoritative U.S. safety and regulatory sources where relevant, and reputable independent testing or review sources when useful, with clear attribution. SafeBabyGear does not currently conduct repeatable first-party hands-on testing of the products covered in its review content — products are not purchased, supplied by manufacturers, or borrowed specifically for testing on this site.
Corrections & Updates
Products, standards, and recommendations change over time. When we become aware that information on this site is outdated or incorrect, our goal is to correct it.
SafeBabyGear doesn’t run content updates on a fixed schedule. Instead, we review and update a guide when we identify a material change — such as a product recall, a change in a product’s specifications or availability, a regulatory update, or a change in authoritative safety guidance. This means we don’t guarantee immediate detection of every change, but it reflects our actual update process.
Medical & Safety Information
Some of our content touches on topics related to your baby’s health and safety. This content is intended for general informational purposes and reflects publicly available guidance. It is not a substitute for advice from your pediatrician or another qualified healthcare provider.
SafeBabyGear content is not currently reviewed by a pediatrician, doctor, nurse, dietitian, or other licensed medical professional before publication. Where we reference health or safety guidance, we cite it to its original authoritative source — organizations such as the CDC, CPSC, NHTSA, or the American Academy of Pediatrics — rather than presenting that citation as a separate medical review of our own content.
