Nursery Checklist
Everything to have in place before your baby comes home, from the sleep setup to the safety basics that are easy to forget. Work through it room by room and revisit it as your baby starts moving around.
Sleep Setup
- A crib or bassinet that meets current safety standards
- A firm mattress that fits the crib snugly, with no gaps
- A fitted sheet, with nothing else loose in the sleep space
- A sleep sack or wearable blanket instead of loose bedding
Storage & Organization
- A dresser or shelving for clothes, sorted by size
- A changing table or a dedicated changing surface
- Bins or baskets for diapers, wipes, and linens
- A hamper for laundry
Comfort & Function
- Blackout curtains or shades for daytime naps
- A sound machine, if you plan to use one
- A comfortable chair for feeding and soothing
- A dim nightlight for overnight changes
Safety Basics
- Outlet covers on any accessible outlets
- Blind and curtain cords tied up out of reach
- Dresser and shelving anchored to the wall
- A baby monitor set up and tested
